Chapter “BALAD” – (The City) - 90

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

 (I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ 1  وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ 2  وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ 3  لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ 4  أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ 5  يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا 6  أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ 7  أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ 8  وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ 9  وَهَدَيْنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ 10

1.  Laaa  ‘uqsimu  bi-haazal-BALAD.  2.  Wa ‘anta  hillum-  bi-haazal-Balad.  3.  Wa  Waalidinw-wa  maa  Walad.  4.  Laqad  khalaqNal-‘insaana  fii  kabad.  5.  ‘A-yahsabu  ‘al-lany-yaqdira  'alayhi  ‘ahad.  6.  Yaquulu  ‘ahlaktu  maalal-lubadaa.  7.  ‘A-yahsabu  ‘al-lam  yarahuuu  ‘ahad.  8.  ‘A-lam  naj-'al-lahuu  'aynayn.  9.  Wa  lisaananw-wa  shafatayn.  10.  Wa  hadayNaahun-najdayn.

1. Nay, I swear by this city -  2. And you are an indweller of this city -  3. And the begetter and that which he begat,  4. We verily have created man in an atmosphere:  5. Thinks he that none has power over him?  6. And he says: I have destroyed vast wealth:  7. Thinks he that none beholds him?  8. Did We not assign unto him two eyes  9. And a tongue and two lips,  10. And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways?

It is commanded: That is not as you think. Observe the state of this Township Makkah, which will become an exemplary Township on a day, and in which Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) will enter as a conqueror. Citizen life begins by getting together of mankind and his descendents. Every mankind should perform his duties of citizenship. No one is permitted to remain unemployed. Allaah Almighty has Divine Power of every kind over everything. Rich people should not boast that they have spent their wealth as they desired. They should consider that they are in the Control of their Lord in all respects and He has been looking their every work. Allaah is Almighty Who bestowed beauty to the face of mankind, decorated two eyes, one tongue and two lips at their proper places, and gave sense for understanding and using it to know advantageous and harmful things for himself.
