48b. Your only duty is communication. Whenever We let man
taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it; but when misfortune befalls them, as
a consequence of what their hands have perpetrated, man turns blasphemous. 49a. To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.
He creates whatever He wills. |
It is commanded: God Almighty appoints His Prophets (Peace be upon them) for the purpose that they must deliver His Message to His slaves. It is not their duty that they should compel the people to act upon the Instructions mentioned in the Message. In this verse, it has been commanded in clear words to the Messenger (ﷺ): Your only duty is conveying the Message. You should not be sorrowful if these people do not admit. Leave them on their condition. Consider that at the time of prosperity, the mankind becomes proud and when any affliction comes upon him due to any of his errors, then words of disbelief begin to come out of his mouth. Therefore, there are a few such people from them who believe in God Almighty as the belief is required in Him. They do not have time to control their desires and comply with the Commandments of God Almighty during enjoying themselves because they do not feel its necessity. But when they are entangled in calamities due to their wrong deeds then say: We would not have been in such condition if Allaah were Present. They have been dull of understanding. God Almighty is the Owner of the heavens and the earth. He can produce what He desires and keep us according to His will. How can you deny Him?
