Who was Jesus? (L-2980)

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ مَثَلًا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
59
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَٰٓئِكَةً فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ
60
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَٱتَّبِعُونِ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
61
وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
62

59. ‘In huwa ‘illaa 'abdun ‘an-'amnaa 'alayhi wa ja-'alNaahu masalal-li-Baniii- ‘Israaa-'iil. 60. Wa law Nashaaa-'u laja-'alNaa minkum-malaaa-'ikatan- fil-‘arzi yakhlufuun. 61. Wa ’innahuu la-'ilmul-lis-Saa-'ati falaa tamtarunna bihaa wattabi-'uun. Haazaa Siraatum-Mustaqiim. 62.
Wa laa yasuddan-nakumush-Shaytaan. ‘Innahuu
lakum 'aduwwum- mubiin. |

59. He
was just a servant whom We blessed, and We made him an example for the
Children of Israel. 60. Had
We willed, We would have made of you angels to be successors on earth. 61. He
is a portent of the Hour, so have no doubt about it, and follow Me. This is a
straight way. 62. And let not Satan divert you. He is an open enemy to you. |
The Idolaters of Makkah used to adore the idols. Holy Qur’an informed them: You and your self-made gods (all of you) will be thrown into the Hell. After hearing this, one of them thought and said: The people have made Jesus (Peace be upon him) worshipped. Will he too be cast into the Hell? The Idolaters cried with pleasure after hearing this objection that they had got victory.
It is being described to them: Jesus (Peace be upon him) was Our chosen servant. We bestowed to him some of Our Signs and made him a pattern for the guidance of the Children of Israel. By observing that his nature was like angels, some people began to adore him after him. It was their misunderstanding. Jesus (Peace be upon him) admitted himself that he was a slave of God Almighty. He cannot be punished due to error of others. We can make some people of you also like the nature of angels if We desire and they would be visible at your places on the earth. Any angel cannot be God. Now speak! Why did you choose idols as your gods, which were lifeless things? Their reality will be opened on you when those will be cast into the Hell along with you.
After that, it is commanded: Reason of causing you to hear the mention of Jesus (Peace be upon him) is that Divine Power of God Almighty comes to mind by looking him. The Creator produced him without father. It is understood from the same that reproducing the entire mankind like this on the Day of Resurrection is also included in His Omnipotence. You must never have any doubt in the Day of Resurrection. The Way described by me is the Right Path, so you should obey me; and must never be deceived by Satan. He is your open enemy.
