Order suspended (L-3213)

ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَن تُقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَٰتٍ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا۟ وَتَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ 13 أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا۟ قَوْمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم 14a

13.  'A-‘ashfaqtum  ‘an-  tuqad-dimuu  bayna  yaday- najwaakum  sadaqaat.  Fa-‘iz  lam  taf-'aluu  wa  taabAllaahu  'alatkum  fa-‘aqiimus-Salaata  wa  ‘aatuz-Zakaata  wa  ‘atii-'Ullaaha  wa  Rasuulah.  Wallaahu  Khabiirum-bimaa  ta'-maluun. (Section 2/2) 14a.  ‘A-lam  tara  ‘ilallaziina  tawallaw  qawman  gazibAllaahu  'alayhim.

13. Fear you to offer alms before your conference? Then, when you do it not and Allah has forgiven you, establish worship and pay the poor-due and obey Allah and His messenger. And Allah is Aware of what you do. 14a. Have you not seen those who take for friends a folk with whom Allah is wroth?

It was commanded: Whosoever is desirous to hold conference with the Messenger privately, should offer charity before it. The people gave up private conversation with the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Spending money as charity was very difficult for the hypocrites, but the Muslims considered that the condition of offering charity for private consultation with the Messenger is not liked by Allaah Almighty.

Then this verse was revealed: You have left private conversation with the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) due to fear of offering Alms. The purpose of the order has been achieved. Now Allaah Almighty has removed this condition.  Establish prescribed prayer and pay the poor-due, obey Allaah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Understand it thoroughly that Allaah Almighty is Acquainted with what you do.

After that it is commanded: Observe the hypocrites! They have made the Jews allies, with whom Allaah Almighty has become angry. Do they consider that they will have any benefit in the friendship of the Jews?
