Etiquette of the meeting (a) (L-3210)

إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ لِيَحْزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيْسَ بِضَآرِّهِمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ 10  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا۟ فِى ٱلْمَجَٰلِسِ فَٱفْسَحُوا۟ يَفْسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ 11a

10.  ‘Innaman-najwaa  minash-Shaytaani  liyahzu-nallaziina  ‘aamanuu  wa  laysa  bizaaarrihim  shay-'an  ‘illaa  bi-‘izNillaah.  Wa  'alAllaahi  fal-yatawakkalil-Mu'-minuun. 11a.  Yaaa-‘ayyuhallaziina  ‘aamanuu  ‘izaa  qiila  lakum  tafassahuu  fil-majaalisi  fafsahuu  yafsaHillaahu  lakum.

10. Lo! Conspiracy is only of the devil, that he may vex those who believe; but he can harm them not at all unless by Allah's leave. In Allah let believers put their trust. 11a. O you who believe! when it is said unto you, Make room! in assemblies, then make room; Allah will make way for you (hereafter).

It has been described clearly in this verse that two or more people should avoid private conversation mutually themselves in the assembly, so that others may not think that “something is being hidden from us”. If you have to discuss any necessary affair, you must do after coming out from the gathering, so that others may not have any chance of misunderstanding.

It is commanded: Private conversation is only from Satan that he may grieve those who have believed. It is the act of hypocrites, but they cannot at all harm the Muslims by their such works, because profit and loss is in the Hand of Allaah Almighty. The believers must rely only upon Allaah Almighty. None other can harm or benefit.

After that, the Muslims are being taught: When another person comes and you are told, "Space yourselves for making place to adjust the new comer" in assemblies; or he himself requests, then you must make space. Allaah Almighty will make space for you as reward of your harmony.
