The condition of the hypocrites (c) (L-3229)

تَحْسَبُهُمْ جَمِيعًا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ شَتَّىٰ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْقِلُونَ 14b  كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَرِيبًا ذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 15  كَمَثَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ إِذْ قَالَ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ ٱكْفُرْ فَلَمَّا كَفَرَ قَالَ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّنكَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 16  فَكَانَ عَٰقِبَتَهُمَآ أَنَّهُمَا فِى ٱلنَّارِ خَٰلِدَيْنِ فِيهَا وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 17

14b.  Tahsa-buhum  jamii-'anw-wa  quluubuhum  shattaa.  Zaalika  bi-‘annahum  qawmul-laa  ya'-qiluun. 15.  Kamasa-lillaziina  min  qablihim  qariiban  zaaquu  wabaala  ‘amrihim.  Wa  lahum  'azaabun  ‘aliim. 16.  Kamasalish-Shay-taani  ‘iz  qaala  lil-‘insaanik-fur.  Falammaa  kafara  qaala  ‘innii  bariii-'um-minka  ‘inniii  ‘akhaafUllaaha  Rabbal-'Aalamiin. 17.  Fakaana  'aaqibata-humaaa  ‘annahumaa  fin-Naari  khaalidayni  fiihaa.  Wa  zaalika  jazaaa-'uz-zaalimiin. (Section 2/5)

14b.  You think of them as a whole whereas their hearts are divers. That is because they are a folk who have no sense. 15. On the likeness of those (who suffered) a short time before them, they taste the ill-effects of their own conduct, and theirs is painful punishment. 16. (And the hypocrites are) on the likeness of the devil when he tells man to disbelieve, then, when he disbelieves says: Lo! I am quit of you. Lo! I fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. 17. And the consequence for both will be that they are in the Fire, therein abiding. Such is the reward of evil-doers.

It is commanded: Apparently it seems that they are together, but in fact their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason. They consider that they will win by apparent alliance. Theirs is like the example of those shortly before them: idolaters of Makkah and the Jews of Banu Qaynqaa’ tasted the bad consequence of their affair. In the month of Ramadan 2nd AH, idolaters of Makkah were defeated in the Battle of Badr and during the same year in the month of Shawal the Jews of Banu Qaynqaa’ were expelled. And for all of them, a painful punishment is ready on the Doomsday. The hypocrites are like the example of Satan when he says to man, "Disbelieve in Allaah!" But when he disbelieves, Satan says, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. I fear Allaah, Lord of the worlds." These entire are his lies.  So the outcome for both of them is that they will be cast in the Fire, abiding eternally therein. And that is the recompense of the wrong-doers.
