20c. and establish worship and pay the poor-due,
and (so) lend unto Allah a goodly loan. Whatsoever good you send before you
for your souls you will find it with Allah, better and greater in the
recompense. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
The people who believed in the Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and attained the rank of “the Companions (Sahaabah)” (May Allaah be pleased with them) in the beginning, for them the Midnight (Tahajjud) Prayer remained obligatory for one year and it was said: Have patience on the opposition of your enemies although they molest you so much. Quarrel with them not and nor misbehave by rebuking. Then considering that some people will be patients and some old; many of them will travel for striving; in search of provision; knowledge and science, so obligation of offering Midnight (Tahajjud) Prayer was removed. And only five obligatory prayers were made binding.
It is commanded: Now the status of the Midnight (Tahajjud) Prayer is as voluntary for the common Muslims. But still it is obligatory for the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). The Muslims should establish obligatory prayer and pay the poor-due to the necessitous and the poor according to prescribed portion (2-1/2%) of their wealth. Moreover besides this, whatsoever will they spend for the helpless and needy people with pure intention, that will be as they are lending to Allaah Almighty a goodly loan. Such loan must be given happily and generously, because whatever good you will put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allaah Almighty. It is better and greater in reward. Along with it you must seek forgiveness of Allaah Almighty, because to err is human and the mankind errs usually in His worship. If you will seek His forgiveness, He will forgive your errors and sins. He is very Forgiving and Merciful. Reward of your entire good deeds will be given to you on the Day of Resurrection, on the condition that you did all such works for the pleasure of Allaah Almighty.
