The object of feeding (L-3376)

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُورًا 9  إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا 10  فَوَقَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّىٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا 11  وَجَزَىٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا 12  مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ 13a

9.  ‘Innaamaa  nut-'imukum  li-wajHillaahi  laa  nuriidu  minkum  jazaaa-'anw-wa  laa  shukuuraa. 10.  Innaa  nakhaafu  mir-Rabbinnaa  Yawman  'abuusan  qamtariiraa. 11.  Fawaqaa-humUllaahu  sharra  zaalikal-Yawmi  wa  laqqaahum  nazratanw-wa  suruuraa. 12.  Wa  jazaahum-  bimaa  sabaruu  Jannatanw-wa  hariiraa. 13a.  Muttaki-'iina  fiihaa  'alal-‘araaa-'ik.

9. (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 10. Lo! We fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 11. Therefor Allah has warded off from them the evil of that day, and has made them find brightness and joy; 12. And has awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 13a. Reclining therein upon couches,

It is commanded: When righteous people feed to the needy, they think, “We give them food only for the sake and pleasure of Allaah Almighty. We do not wish from the needy any reward or gratitude. We fear from the displeasure of our Lord on the Day of Resurrection, which will be very distressful and hard." So Allaah Almighty will protect them from the evil and confusions of that Day and give them radiance and happiness. And He will reward them with a garden in Paradise and silk garments for what they patiently endured and obeyed His commandments during their life of the world. They will be reclining therein on adorned couches like worldly kings.
