Chapter “QAMAR” - (The Moon) - 54
‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah
from Satan the outcast)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ 1 وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ 2 وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ 3 وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ 4 حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ 5 فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ 6a |

1. ‘Iqtarabatis- Saa-'atu wan- shaqqal- qamar 2. Wa ‘iny-yaraw ‘Aayatany-yu'-rizuu wa yaquuluu sihrun mustamirr. 3. Wa kazzabuu wattaba-'uuu ‘ahwaaa-'a-hum. Wa kullu ‘amrim- mustaqirr. 4. Wa laqad jaaa-'ahum-minal-‘ambaaa-'i maa fiihi muzdajar. 5. Hikmatum- baaligatun famaa tugnin-nuzur. 6a. Fatawalla
'anhum. |

1. The
Hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 2. And
if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 3. They
denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to
a decision 4. And
surely there has come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 5. Effective
wisdom; but warnings avail not. 6a. So
withdraw from them (O Muhammad) |
By meditating in the system of the world that it has been running properly and regularly, the mankind should conclude that Someone exists Who created all these things, Who fitted its every part at its proper place which have been working according to prescribed order. “Coming of days and nights behind one another regularly, rising and setting of sun and moon, blowing of pleasant winds timely, raining according to rule, budding and blossoming of the land after being dry”, after drawing attention towards all such things; it has been commanded to the mankind: Know the Creator and the Lord of you and entire things of the universe! Then, sometimes it happens against this arrangement, for example, earthquakes and storms come; and diseases spread. These all are tokens that a Time will come when everything of this universe will be over. Miracles of the Prophets (peace be upon them) show also that you should not be proud by looking running of everything of the world that all things will be working perpetually as those are.
It is commanded: Consider that the Hour is near to reach. The
moon was rent in twain when Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be
upon him) made a signal, it was a true Sign of the Day of Resurrection. But
what has happened to the people who do not understand the truth, who remain
busy in their routine works by saying that it is magic, who falsify the
Portents of Allaah Almighty and fulfill their desires. Say to them:
Every happening will happen at its proper time. If even then they do not pay
attention, then you must turn away from them and recite before them who listen.
