Introduction “The Beneficent” (L-3158)
According to order, this is fifty-fifth Chapter of Holy Qur’an. It has three Sections, was revealed in Makkah during initiatory days of Islam. The name of this Chapter is Rahmaan (Merciful and Forgiving), which is an Epithet of God Almighty, and in which the blessings and effects of this name have been computed in detail, which have been spreading all over the world. This Chapter was revealed in reply to the disbelievers who were invited to fall prostrate before Rahmaan. They said: We are unaware of Rahmaan. How can we fall prostrate by your saying? What does it mean that sometime you say for worshipping Allaah and command us to fall prostrate before Him, and some time you say that we should fall prostrate before Rahmaan? Does it aim that we should fall prostrate before Him for Whom you say?
In Surah Baniii ‘Israaa-‘iil (Chapter 17 – Children of
Israel), it was described to them: Allaah and Rahmaan (both) are
the names of the same One God. And they were informed also that He has many
other good names too. In this Chapter, it has been described: The entire world
is Appearance of the Mercy of Allaah Almighty. Behold! We are going to
describe you the Signs of His Mercy. O mankind and the Jinn! Only you two kinds
of creature are wise and trustee. Can you deny any Sign from the Signs of the
blessings of Allaah Almighty; if you take work from your senses? Listen!
He is Rahmaan (The Beneficent) Who sent down Alcoran (Holy
Qur’an), taught speaking to the mankind, created sun and moon by a prescribed
way, caused to grow little plants and big trees, established the system of
justice and equity in the world, and made Court for balancing justice; so that
increase and decrease in measurement may be controlled, created many kinds of
tasty fruits, fragrant flowers, grains and fodders for entire living creatures.
So which of the blessings from them would you
deny? Meditate in the creation of mankind, think about the creation of the
Jinn, reflect in the arrangement of the world, see the sea and rivers – both
meet but taste of their waters is separate from each others, pearls and corals
are found from them, big ships and boats run upon them. Form and condition of
everything is changed. Learn from their destruction! Every required thing is
provided by Allaah Almighty to every necessitous. You cannot break any
law of the world made by Him. Reward or punishment will be given to all of you
on the Day of Judgement according to your deeds. He has made both - Paradise and
Hell. Righteous people will join Paradise and evildoers will be thrown into the
Hell. Paradise is a Garden for taking perpetual rest and comfort, whereas the
Hell is the Fire more furious than worldly fire. Tell now! Which is it,
of the favours of your Lord, that you deny? Everything exists at its proper
place and every arrangement is made at its situation. It is the Appearance of
the Mercy of Allaah Almighty. So we should bow down only before Him.
