24. Has
the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached you (O Muhammad)? 25. When
they came in unto him and said: Peace! He answered, Peace! (and thought):
Folk unknown (to me). 26. Then
he went apart unto his house-folk so that they brought a fatted calf; 27. And
he set it before them, saying: Will you not eat? |
It was described earlier that God’s entire work of this world will be scattered on a Day and all human beings will die. It is incumbent upon every mankind that he must understand by meditating in the occurrences of the world that how all things have been working properly. Whatsoever has been happening here, it’s any result will come out in future. No work is purposeless. Behold the winds! Sometimes these blow fast and sometimes slow. Their work is to arrange timely for raining. When you will meditate on it, you will come to know certainly that whatever a mankind has been doing, its result also will come out. The Day of Resurrection will be established, deeds of everyone will be checked, those will receive good reward who do righteous works and the wrongdoers will be punished. Example of this system of reward and punishment has also been determined up to a limit in this world, so that by observing it, one may have faith in the reward and punishment of the Day of Resurrection.
Listen to the circumstances of Abraham (peace be upon him) for this purpose. And remember the consequence of the folk of Lot (peace be upon him). Once upon a time, some people came to Abraham (peace be upon him) as guests and said: We greet you with peace. He (peace be upon him) answered, went immediately into his house and came with a fat (roasted) calf; considering that they were a people unknown. So he placed it near them and said: Take it! When he saw that they were not going to eat, he asked: "Why do you not eat?
We knew from it that “Entertaining the guests
is a good work and a sign of civility.” Abraham was a Messenger of Allaah
Almighty (peace be upon him), who used to persuade the people verbally to
do righteous works as well as practically by doing himself.
