State of the Hellish (L-3175)

فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ 42  وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ 43  لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ 44  إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ 45  وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ 46  وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ 47  أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ 48

42.  Fii  samuuminw-wa  hamiim. 43.  Wa  zillim-miny-yahmuum. 44.  Laa  baaridinw-wa  laa  kariim. 45.  ‘Innaahum  kaanuu  qabla  zaalika  mutrafiin. 46.  Wa kaanuu  yusirruuna  'alal- hinsil- 'aziim. 47.  Wa  kaanuu  yaquuluuna,  ‘a-'izaa  mitnaa  wa  kunnaa  turaabanw-wa  ‘izaaman  'a-‘innaa  lamab-'uusuun. 48.  ‘Awa  ‘aabaaa-'unal-‘awwaluun.

42. In scorching wind and scalding water 43. And shadow of black smoke, 44. Neither cool nor refreshing. 45. Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 46. And used to persist in the awful sin. 47. And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 48. And also our forefathers?

It is commanded: Those people who will be standing on the left side, they will be hellish. They will be in scorching fire and scalding water and a shade of black smoke, which will spread on them like shade. Neither will it be cool and nor beneficial for body or soul. Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, enjoying and used to persist in the great violation. They were disbelievers of Allaah Almighty and used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, then how shall we be resurrected? Our forefathers died and a long time has passed but they did not come back to life again, then how can we return to life?"
