These people are not believers (L-3132)

44. And
if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap
of clouds. 45. Then
let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be
thunder-stricken, 46. A
day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. |
It is commanded: Condition of their stubbornness and obstinacy is it that if they are followed for satisfying them, even then they will not believe and will make any excuse of denying. For putting off the saying of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), the deniers used to impose, according to their thought, more difficult conditions that “if this work is done; we shall believe that you are true”, for example, they used to say: a piece of sky should be broken and fall on our heads.
In this verse, it has been described: If their such condition is fulfilled and a piece of the sky begin to fall upon them and see clearly that a piece of sky is being broken on their heads, even then they will not admit. Then too they will say: it is not a piece of the sky but it is a weighty cloud, layers of which have been fixed on one another. It will spread after raining as usual.
Can it be hoped from such kind of people that they will choose
the right path? Therefore, it is being commanded to the Messenger (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Leave them to do their work. They will
not believe by admonishing. They will meet their
Day very soon in which they will be thunder-stricken and become
insensible. Their tricks and wicked deeds will not be of their use. Neither
they will have any protecting friend and nor will they be helped.
