Excuse of disbelief (L-3030)

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوْ كَانَ خَيْرًا مَّا سَبَقُونَآ إِلَيْهِ وَإِذْ لَمْ يَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَيَقُولُونَ هَٰذَآ إِفْكٌ قَدِيمٌ 11  وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّسَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ 12

11.  Wa  qaalal-laziina  kafaruu  lillaziina  ‘aamanuu   law  kaana  khayram-maa  sabaquunaaa  ‘ilayh.  Wa  ‘iz  lam  yahtaduu  bihii  fasa-yaquuluuna  haazaaa  ‘ifkun- qadiim. 12.  Wa  min- qablihii  Kitaabu  Muusaaa  ‘imaamanw-wa  rahmah.  Wa haazaa  Kitaabum- musaddiqul- lisaanan  'Arabiyyal-liyunziral-laziina  zalamuu  wa  Bushraa  lil-Muhsiniin.

11. And those who disbelieve say of those who believe: If it had been (any) good, they would not have been before us in attaining it. And since they will not be guided by it, they say: This is an ancient lie; 12. When before it there was the Scripture of Moses, an example and a mercy; and this is a confirming Scripture in the Arabic language, that it may warn those who do wrong and bring good tidings for the righteous.

The people of Arab used to consider that the Jews were great scholars and well aware of old circumstances. They hoped that the Jews would agree to them without thinking and oppose Islam along with them. But their hope was not accomplished. The scholars of the Jews informed them clearly, “One last Messenger is near to come along with the last Scripture”. Moreover, some great scholars, {for instance; one from them was Abdullah son of Salaam (May Allaah be pleased with him)}, said as soon as they saw that, “Muhammad is the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), information concerning whom exists in Torah”. The infidels of Arab were very disappointed from it and fabricated a new pretence of disbelieving, which has been manifested in these verses.

It is commanded: After that, these people began to say: If Islam had truly been good, then feeble people, slaves and bondwomen would not have preceded us (who were rich and considered respectable) to it. Because they do not desire to embrace Islam, so they will determine that the Religion (whether that is old or new) is an ancient falsehood. Their such statement is entirely wrong. In fact; at first the heavenly Religion was spread by Torah which was brought by Moses (peace be upon him), and opened the way of guidance and mercy for the mankind. Now this Qur’an, which is in Arabic language and which confirms all previous Scriptures, has been revealed for frightening the violent and the oppressors from the consequence of their wrong deeds. It shows the Right Path to the good people who must follow its Commandments. There are good tidings for righteous people that their End will be good.
