No Protecting Friend but Allah (L-3039)

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَصَرَّفْنَا ٱلْءَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ 27 فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قُرْبَانًا ءَالِهَةًۢ بَلْ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنْهُمْ وَذَٰلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ 28 |

27. Wa laqad ‘ahlakNaa maa hawlakum-minal-quraa wa sarrafNal-‘Aayaati la-'allahum yarji-'uun. 28. Falaw-laa
nasara-humul-laziinat-takhazuu
min duuNillaahi qurbaanan
‘aalihah. Bal zalluu
'anhum. Wa zaalika
‘ifkuhum wa maa
kaanuu yaftaruun. |

27. And verily We have destroyed townships round about
you, and displayed (for them) Our revelation, that haply they might return. 28. Then why did those whom they had chosen for gods as a
way of approach (unto Allah) not help them? Nay, but they did fail them
utterly. And (all) that was their lie, and what they used to invent. |
It is being described to the people of Makkah that the consequence of disbelieving in Allaah Almighty and disobeying His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is nothing but destruction. Behold that what happened with the refractory people before you.
After causing the circumstances of the folk of Aad to hear, it is being commanded in these verses: Besides them, there were some other townships around you, for example, the folks of Thamud and Lot (peace be upon him) etc. Reason of their destruction was also the same. Their inhabitants did according to their wills and disobeyed the Prophets of Allaah Almighty (peace be upon them). You see their ruins during your journeys. We caused them to understand in various ways; so that they must know the Truth, give up wrong deeds and choose the Straight Path. But they did not care, disobeyed Our Prophets (peace be upon them), asked others for a boon instead of Allaah Almighty and made all sorts of excuses for adoring idols, that is to say, “the Court of Allaah is very high, how can we reach Him, our idols bring us closer to Allaah, and make us higher in ranks with Him, otherwise where are we and where is the Master of all?”.
It is commanded: Why did their so-called gods help them not when Our torment came upon them due to their obstinacy and insurrection? They had to call them for help to save them from the torment and for removing their troubles. Where had they (gods) gone after looking the idolaters seized in torment, to whom the idolaters used to consider their intercessors in the Court of Allaah Almighty? They had to help them and save, but they could do nothing.
It turned out that adoring the idols (so-called gods) and having
any hope from them is only a lie, wrong and self-invented matter.
