Spending wealth (L-3063)

هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ وَمَن يَبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْغَنِىُّ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوٓا۟ أَمْثَٰلَكُم 38 |

38. Haaa-‘antum haaa-'ulaaa-'i tud-'awna li-tunfiquu fii SabiiLillaahi faminkum-many-yabkhal. Wa many-yabkhal fa-‘innamaa yabkhalu 'an-nafsih. Wallaahul- Ghaniyyu wa ‘antumul- Fuqaraaa'. Wa ‘in- tatawallaw yastabdil-qawman gayrakum summa laa yakuunuuu ‘amsaalakum. (Section

38. Lo!
You are those who are called to spend in the way of Allah, yet among you
there are some who hoard. And as for him who hoards, he hoards only from his
soul. And Allah is the Rich, and you are the poor. And if you turn away He
will exchange you for some other folk, and they will not be the likes of you. |
It was commanded in the previous verses: Allaah Almighty does not demand your wealth from you. He is not needy of your wealth. However, He desires to describe you what is better for you. Behold! Your betterment is in it that you must believe and do right. While you have believed in Allaah Almighty, you must obey His Commandments. He sent His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and by means of him He informed you concerning all such matters which you must have to do. As you are instructed to spend your wealth in the Way of Allaah Almighty, there is betterment for yourselves in it. He does not need your wealth. You must pay the poor-due from some portion of your wealth, which will be spent on necessitous people according to the guidance of Allaah Almighty. Some of you are such people who are stingy in this matter too.
Say to such ignorant! There is not only your personal benefit in
it but the Religion and the world also will reap advantage. If you will be
avaricious, you will harm yourselves. Your group will be scattered in the
world, you will be deprived of reward in the life after death and in addition
you would have to suffer punishment of disobedience on the Day of Resurrection.
Allaah Almighty is the Free of need, while you are the needy. If you turn away
from His Commandment, Allaah Almighty will replace you with another
people; then they will not be the likes of you.
