21. And
make mention (O Muhammad) of the brother of Aad when he warned his
folk among the wind-curved sand-hills - and verily warners came and went
before and after him - saying: Serve none but Allah. Lo! I fear for you the
doom of a tremendous Day. 22. They
said: Have you come to turn us away from our gods? Then bring upon us that
wherewith you threaten us, if you are of the truthful. |
In the previous verses, the people who were disobedient of Allaah Almighty; were frightened from their bad consequence. For manifesting the same, the circumstances of the folk of Aad are being described in these verses.
They were ruined because they disbelieved in Allaah Almighty. The people of Aad used to live in Yemen, between Hazar-mawt and Najran. This territory was capable of population in the desert, around which there were dunes of sand like hills, but this portion of land was arable. Prophet Huud (peace be upon him) was from them. Allaah Almighty appointed him to warn his refractory folk. He said: Your end will be worse if you adored others instead of Allaah Almighty. I fear that a horrible Day will come upon you due to your disbelief and refractoriness. Any disaster will ruin all of you.
They were proud of their physical strength, used to adore idols,
molest the feeble and grip up their loins for tyrannizing. After hearing the
advice of Huud (peace be upon him), they said: Have you come to delude us away from our gods? We don’t care. Bring upon
us what you promise us, if you are of the truthful.
