The folk of Moses (L-3251)
|
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تُؤْذُونَنِى وَقَد تَّعْلَمُونَ أَنِّى رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ فَلَمَّا زَاغُوٓا۟ أَزَاغَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ 5 |

5. Wa
‘iz qaala Muusaa
li-qawmihii “yaa-qawmi lima
tu'-zuunanii wa qatta'-lamuuna ‘annii
RasuulUllaahi ‘ilaykum”. Falammaa
zaaguuu ‘azaagAllaahu quluubahum. Wallaahu
laa yahdil-qawmal-faasiqiin. |

5. And
(remember) when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Why persecute you
me, when you well know that I am Allah's messenger unto you? So when they
went astray Allah sent their hearts astray. And Allah guides not the
evil-living folk. |
It was commanded earlier that the Muslim must not be like a boaster but must be a hard worker; otherwise Allaah Almighty will not love him. For explaining the same, after describing the circumstances of the Jews, the attention is drawn that in talking they were very brave, but at the time of working; they used to withdraw themselves.
Behold! When Moses (peace be upon him) caused the Jews to understand: You have been giving me pain by your behavior, while you certainly know that I have been appointed as a Messenger of Allaah and sent for your guidance. You feign ignorance intentionally and do such works; by which I feel grief. You become very obedient by your tongues, but when I went away from you for a few days, you began to adore a calf. And when the time of fighting against Amaalqah came, you did not care but said: O Moses (peace be upon him): Go and fight you and your Lord (both), from here we shall not move up.
When the
Children of Israel deviated, Allaah Almighty caused their hearts to
deviate for always. He does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
