What does this Chapter teach (a) (L-3247)
Chapter “MUMTAHINAH” - (She that is to be examined) - 60
It can be understood by meditating in this Chapter that who are the enemies of the Muslims and what the reason of their enmity is, and what is its cure. The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) lived for thirteen years in Makkah after receiving the Prophecy and caused the inhabitants of Makkah to understand: Worship not any other except Allaah! They said: Whatever we have been doing, is our old religion; which was adopted by our forefathers. We cannot leave it. If you will bring any new religion, neither we ourselves shall accept it and nor we shall let others to embrace. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) said: Well! You must think of kinship and disturb not them who accept my Religion. Let me do my work. They said No, not at all. We shall oppose your Religion every time and everywhere. Their such misbehaviour was choking the freedom of mankind’s sense. Those are enemies of Allaah, Islam and Muslims who desire to remove this freedom. Removing human freedom is the root of enmity.
It is known from this Chapter: Explain before the enemies first of all! Don’t prevent others from accepting Islam, whether you accept it or otherwise. Behave with them justly if they admit; and deal with them according to the principles of living altogether. But if they do not agree, leave them and immigrate to any other place. If even then they molest, then fight them with full power until they are confuted of Religious Freedom. It is manifest that Islam does not permit to fight only for conquering any Country and getting sovereignty. Islam desires to establish freedom of preaching the religion in the world and that every individual must choose the religion which one considers true after thinking. The root of sociability is only on justice and equality instead of any religion.
Holy Qur’an teaches to the Muslims: If you will hold fast
the Qur’an and the Traditions of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings
and peace be upon him), the empire and the government will kiss your feet. You
will not have to fight for it. Fight them only who prevent from spreading
Islam, and make - own particular religious beliefs - the basis of living
together instead of the principles of the humanity, and say: I shall compel him
to accept who does not accept my religion, and I shall drive him on forcibly to
give up his religion whether that is Islam or any other. Such people are
transgressors who desire to keep the mankind slaves according to their wishes.
They are enemies of the humanity. Removing them is duty of every sensible. It
is the Islamic Jihad, which is not for conquest, but for keeping up religious
freedom and mankind’s liberation.
