Have patience!

Have patience! (L-3316)

46.  ‘Am  tas-'aluhum  ‘ajran  fa-hum-mim-magramim-musqaluun.

47.  ‘Am  'inda-humul-Gaybu  fahum  yaktubuun.

48.  Fasbir  li-Hukmi  Rabbika  wa  laa  takun-  ka-Saahibil- Huut.  ‘Iz  naadaa  wa  huwa  mak-zuum.

49.  Law- laaa  ‘an  tadaara-kahuu  Ni'-matum-mir-Rab-bihii  lanu-biza  bil-'araaa-'i  wa  huwa  mazmuum.

50.  Faj-tabaahu  Rabbuhuu  faja-'alahuu  minas-Saalihiin.

46. Or do you (Muhammad) ask a fee from them so that they are heavily taxed?

47. Or is the Unseen theirs that they can write (thereof)?

48. But wait you for your Lord's decree, and be not like him of the fish, who cried out in despair.

49. Had it not been that favour from his Lord had reached him he surely had been cast into the wilderness while he was reprobate.

50. But his Lord chose him and placed him among the righteous.

It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Why do they not obey your Saying? You have been describing them in which there is goodness for them. You do not ask of them a payment that they would be burdened down by debt.  Have they knowledge of the Unseen which they write down? While there is no any such matter, then it is entirely their stubbornness that they do not attend to you. Its best treatment is it that you must be patient for the decision of your Lord, O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), and be not like the companion of the fish {Jonah (peace be upon him)}, when he called out (that a disaster from Allaah Almighty will come upon you on so and so day). He left his township while he was distressed. He was thrown into the river from the boat and a fish swallowed him. When he was in the conditions of anger upon his folk and grief that he had determined the day of disaster without permission of Allaah Almighty, in addition, he was sorrowful because he was seized in the belly of the fish, so he prayed in the Court of Allaah Almighty. If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured. It was Kindness of his Lord, Who chose him after deliverance from afflictions and made him of the righteous.
