The disbelievers were slain (L-3272)

يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ 4  أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ فَذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ 5  ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُۥ كَانَت تَّأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَقَالُوٓا۟ 6a

4.  Ya'-lamu  maa  fis-samaawaati  wal-‘arzi  wa  ya'-lamu  maa  tusirruuna  wa  maa  tu'-linuun.  Wallaahu  'Aliimum-  bizaatis-suduur. 5.  ‘A-lam  ya'-tikum  naba-'ul-laziina  kafaruu  min  qabl.  Fazaaquu  wabaala  ‘amrihim  wa  lahum  'azaabun  ‘aliim. 6a.  Zaalika  bi-‘annahuu  kaanat-ta'-tiihim   Rusuluhum  bil-Bayyinaati  faqaaluuu

4. He knows all that is in the heavens and the earth, and He knows what you conceal and what you publish. And Allah is Aware of what is in the breasts (of men). 5. Has not the story reached you of those who disbelieved of old and so did taste the ill-effects of their conduct, and theirs will be a painful doom. 6a. That was because their messengers (from Allah) kept coming unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they said:

It is commanded: Allaah Almighty knows whatsoever has been happening in the heavens and in the earth, what you conceal and what you declare. He is Aware of that which is in the breasts. How can you escape from Him?

After that it is commanded: O haughty and obstinate people! Has there not come to you the news of those who used to live before you in the world and disbelieved in Allaah Almighty? Listen!! They tasted the bad consequence of their affair and were destroyed due to their obstinacy. They were punished because they were wrongdoers. Some of them were drowned in the water-storm and some were ruined by earthquakes, some were killed by thunderclaps and some were stoned to death by raining stones. In short, no one prospered after forgetting Allaah Almighty. They were perished in the world, but still they have to taste the Doom of the Doomsday, which will be very painful. The reason of their destruction was because they began to commit such works which do not suit to mankind. Moreover, their Messengers (peace be upon them) used to come to them with clear evidences, but they began to say: Shall mere mortals guide us who also are like us? If Allaah was desirous to show us the right path, He had to send any angel for our guidance. (Continued)
